That’s a clinch. With several games left to be decided there is no doubt that UCLA will win the title. (Even if they lose to Cal to drop to 3-1 they will have the head-to-head tiebreaker with USC.) Nice little real world test for the prediction systems.

UCLA triumphant. Midjourney prompt: “triumphant Grizzly Bear brandishes giant golden cup. Pulp illustration by Mort Kunstler. The dominant colors in the picture are yellow and baby blue.”

Congratulations UCLA. As we noted earlier this ends a 25 year Mythical California Cup drought. Even San Jose State has won a title in the interim. (But not San Diego State.) It’s sad that they’re leaving and blowing up the Pac-12 but at least they prevented USC from having anything redeeming about this season.

For what it’s worth, UCLA is a 9 point favorite over Cal to complete their perfect MCC season. Is it too late to put that on Chip’s resume? You can’t fire the man who brought the state’s most coveted hardware home for the first time in a quarter century… can you?
