San Diego State pulled it off as we had hoped and became the sixth different cup-winner in the last six years. (This is after 15 years of Stanford and USC trading wins.)

No-doubter run for the Aztecs. After the thrill of clinching an MCC they let down against New Mexico and missed a chance to play in the “real” conference championship game. Oh well. That MCC flag flies forever. Not only did they win but in allowing only 3 points all year in MCC play they set a new record.
Just for fun let’s run some other virtual conferences. Here’s Texas:
$ MCC_CONFERENCE=TEXAS python3 ./mcc_schedule.py -v

This is an interesting one because it went to multiple tie-breakers. Because of the SEC/Big-12 split TCU and Texas didn’t have any common opponents. Beating Sam Houston 55-0 piled on the total margin to make the difference. This feels right. If you beat A&M on Black Friday you get the Texas Cup.

Not very fun! Somewhat surprisingly Florida just doesn’t have enough D1 football teams. And they have really boring names. And how did UCF not play a single other Florida-based D1 team? Malpractice.
